Open Position #1: Assistant Teacher AM (8:30 AM – 2:00 PM) Monday – Thursday

Pay: Lead Teacher $24/hr – $28/hr, Assistant Teacher $20/hr – $22/hr depending on experience

  • No School Fridays
  • No School the month of July

Little Cubs is an in-home private school with a focus on nature and the arts. Rain or shine students are outside everyday exploring the natural world around them. Child care professionals at Little cubs provide high quality learning experiences in a warm and comforting family atmosphere.  Low ratio with 4 students to one teacher.

Duties:

  • Interact with children to encourage positive self-concept and enthusiasm for the discovery process
  • Operate indoor and outdoor classroom within the guidelines and standards of Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families
  • Manage the health, safety, and welfare of all children in the group aged 1 – 5 years old
  • Develop relationships with parents, addressing any concerns and celebrating accomplishments
  • Prepare classroom activities and maintan a developmentally appropriate classroom
  • Assist with daily cleaning and facility upkeep
  • Assist in food preparation and clean up
  • Assist with diapering for non-potty-trained students (if any)
  • Attend training sessions to comply with Washington licensing requirements of 10 STARS hours annually
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education with Early Childhood Endorsement. Natural Science and other related degrees considered with demonstrated early childhood experience.
  • Portable Background Check cleared through MERIT
  • Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid (can be obtained after hire)
  • Safe Sleep Certification (can be obtained after hire)
  • Food Handlers Permit (can be obtained after hire)
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of experience teaching or leading young children in the outdoors
  • Demonstrated strength in creating lesson plans with emphasis on nature
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles and techniques of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to implement that knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with children, parents, peers
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as demonstrate initiative and leadership skills
  • Ability to assist groups of children in all weather conditions with a positive attitude
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and engage in physical activities such as long neighborhood walks, pushing children in strollers and pulling children in wagons
